After the many ups & downs (physical, rather than emotional) of the days since we left Palermo, we were looking forward to a few nights in the same place, sauntering about the city, which we were assured was largely flat. The best laid plans were somewhat scuppered when we received an email from our host the morning of our arrival apologising profusely and explaining that the elevator in the apartment block had blown during a recent electrical storm. The maintenance company had assured her that the part was ordered and it would be fixed in time for our arrival – they lied! Catering not best pleased and to be honest neither was I, but what can you say. We have a holiday home that we let out and there are times when things happen & you can’t do anything but apologise.
Damn! They weren’t joking

If nothing else we’ll be fitter on our return, that’s if I haven’t had a heart attack on the 3rd floor & died
