There weren’t many things we’d have come home from Japan for…

But the wedding of the eldest child of one of our oldest friends made re-entry to the UK and the return to reality, after a truly extraordinary 6 weeks in Japan, a little easier.

It’s the first wedding of the next generation that we have been to and we were both surprised and delighted to be invited. We reminisced on the way to Nantwich (location of the wedding) about the groom’s first birthday and the many lovely days we had enjoyed with him and his family over the years. We were both determined not to be the drunken oldies on the dance floor, a resolution we managed to keep to until my inability to drink moderately, resulted in a throwing of caution to the wind, and us dancing like no one was watching, unfortunately this was in front of the many friends and relations of the adorable couple.

I am sure an evening (albeit a long one) of fun and dancing never used to result in the level of discomfort I felt the next morning. Setting aside the rather irritating and persistent headache, my legs ached like I’d run miles and my feet refused to tolerate anything more structured than a pair of comfy trainers. It’s bloody hard work enjoying yourself these days and requires a lengthy recovery period.

I am a notoriously poor wedding photographer, I get way too excited and forget to get the camera out, let alone take any snaps. I am far more interested in throwing confetti, chatting, drinking champagne, chatting, catching up with old friends and did I mention chatting. so I have one, very distant snap of the groom delivering his speech.

My one photo of the wedding

Not much photographic evidence to prove it, but this wedding was a genuinely delightful day and is one of the top three weddings I have been to, including my own! So to James and Tina – all best wishes for your future together and thank you both so much for allowing us to join in the celebrations.
