I admire places that manage to combine traditional, old buildings (churches, colosseums and the like) with new, cutting edge architecture and design, something Arles seems to have done very nicely. We spent much of our time admiring the old and the new of the town.
What have the Romans ever done for us…
I am a bit nerdy about an ancient portico
I am allowed 1 church a day when travelling with Catering
I wasn’t expecting that to pop up on the horizon
Impressive work Mr Gehry
It was as interesting inside as out, and included an indoor Helter Skelter to descend from top to bottom, which Catering very much enjoyed. He was very disappointed when I opted for the more sedate stair option, using the excuse that I’d video his descent. I am still scarred by having to rescue one of the Small Boys who managed to get himself stuck halfway down a Helter Skelter while we were living in Tokyo.
