It was 18 months in the planning and now we are done. Monday saw us packing our bags and returning the camper before an afternoon flight back to Haneda. I will miss the Camper, it was great fun and suited our purpose perfectly, but I don’t think we’ll be dashing out to buy one. We are just too big for that little space. so will probably always prefer to opt for hire car + hotels & airbnb where possible.

It was a blast and everything we hoped for. We are still speaking and, barring the odd Sat Nav induced stressful moment, rarely had a cross word. We had a last night in a hotel in Tokyo, close to Haneda airport, in a proper bed with squashy pillows, the perfect end to our trip. The meal was good and they had wine too, a Heineken free zone.
