DOWNTOWN OSAKA

We decided not to travel too far today, so thought we would explore downtown Osaka. We both like a big smelly market and so we headed for Kuromon Ichiba Market. The selection of fish was amazing and so, given that we are currently avoiding all things pig, we had a healthy fish breakfast.

The Dontonbori area is a lot like being in a scene from a Sci-fi film, as you are surrounded by neon and slightly surreal images. At night I can imagine it must feel like the set of Blade Runner.

Next stop Umeda Sky Building to watch the sun go down over Osaka. Now Robert isn’t great with heights, he would rather not get into glass elevators, ascend see through escalators or walk round open air viewing decks 40 floors up. I take it as a sign of his devotion to me that he overcomes his fears to indulge my love of all of the above. Bless you Robert.
